12/06/11-Fiji Living Pt 2

The complexities of modern living can frustrate even the most optimistically inclined individual. Money, work, relationships, money; these necessities of our daily existence have an undeniable impact on our decisions and the paths our lives etch on the map of time.

After watching ‘Braveheart’ for the umpteenth time last night, it dawned on me just how important freedom really is. It got me thinking about the various and unique forms that a modern notion of freedom may take. In the end I decided that freedom in these times is a mixture of things; freedom is balance, freedom is opportunity, freedom is art, freedom is happiness and freedom is sadness.  The list can go on and on because freedom is everything we do, so long as others are not abusing the natural law of equality and dominating over others by abusing the man-made concept of power.

These past few weeks in Fiji I have been enjoying the unrestricted freedom of being able to go out to the world famous breaks of Tavarua and Namotu on a daily basis to surf and create images of what many surfers and non-surfers alike would regard to be paradise on Earth. In between diving under six foot sets with my camera housing and getting the barrels of my life, I often have to pinch myself so as to not take for granted the freedom I currently have. So if anyone is considering a trip to their own personal paradise in the near future here’s my advice-no matter what obstacles stand in your way, make it happen, because you won’t regret it!

Here are some images I have taken over the last few sessions. Also, if you would like to see my image that made ‘Photo of the day’ on Magicseaweed, the web address is below
